What is Salt Therapy?
Salt Therapy, also called halo therapy, is a holistic method that recreates the micro climate of a salt cave. Dry salt aerosol is dispersed into a room where the walls and floor are covered with layers of sea salt. A negative ion and antibacterial environment is created by the salt both on the floor and walls and dispersed through the air. The dry salt aerosol is a key factor in the relief of symptoms for many health problems including respiratory and skin conditions. Please refer to our About Salt Therapy section for more information.

How does Salt Therapy work?
A machine called a halo generator grinds salt to the size of 1-5 micrometers to produce a dry salt aerosol. The generator is placed on the outside wall of the salt room. While sitting in the room for 45 minutes the fine salt aerosol is able to travel to the deepest part of the lungs in addition to other parts of the respiratory tract. As salt enters the lungs and respiratory tract it dissolves bacteria and pollutants and works to expel mucous and open constricted airways.

What are the most important items that I need to know?
Please arrive 15 minutes early. Refrain from wearing any strong-smelling scents, including lotions, colognes, perfumes, essential oils and smoke smell. We ask that you not come in if you are actively sick or could be contagious. Salt therapy is used as a prevention from getting sick: a way to boost our immune systems while healthy and to manage the symptoms from sinus and respiratory conditions. It is important, if you are coming in with a respiratory condition, to drink a lot of water before and after your session.

What should I wear to a session?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing: preferably light colors, as the salt can show more on darker colored clothing. Socks must be worn at all times while in the salt room.

What should I bring?
We ask that everyone bring a pair of socks if you are not wearing any. You are welcome to bring a tablet or Kindle as many people like to read during the session. You are welcome to bring your phone into the session as long as has been silenced. We provide headphones and blankets as it can be slightly cool in the room while you relax.
